“We wanted to have a sensation of spatialization of sound. To hear voices in one place, then in another,” says the concept artists Adrien Mondot and Clare Bardainne. This desire to create a moving sonic experience speaks to the innovation behind En Amour. Where sound is used to build an intimate yet expansive world for the listener.
What Is En Amour?
With “En Amour,” L-Acoustics demonstrates how artists can create spatial audio experiences that envelop the audience in a captivating soundscape. Using L-ISA, sound is placed in a three-dimensional space, allowing the audience to hear audio as if it’s coming from various directions and distances. This creates a highly realistic and engaging listening experience. “The L-ISA system allows this envelopment and this immersion, which provides the emotion we are trying to elicit,” notes Mondot and Bardainne.
The project unites artists, scientists, and technologists who are pushing the boundaries of immersive sound by utilizing binaural audio, 3D audio, and virtual reality. Together, they’re exploring how spatial audio can redefine storytelling by placing sound at the forefront of the viewer’s experience.

The voice starts here and ends there. It passes behind,” explains Thibault Javoy, the sound engineer on the project. This shows how sound creates a narrative that moves fluidly through space.

It sets the stage for future applications of this technology in education, healthcare, and entertainment. “It’s really, in my opinion, the future of sound diffusion. Whether for live or for installations like this,” Javoy adds.

We can hear all the precision and all the frequencies that we wanted to bring out,” says Javoy.
