Kuala Lumpur’s Premier Nightclub Experience Powered by the K Series Professional Sound System
Lane 23, the latest jewel in Kuala Lumpur’s vibrant The Exchange TRX complex, redefines the city’s entertainment scene. This multi-faceted venue opened in October 2024 and offers a unique blend of spaces, including a ground-floor café and restaurant, a chic cocktail bar, and a high-energy nightclub capable of hosting 1,200 guests. The nightclub has quickly become a hotspot, featuring nightly performances by both local and international DJs. To create an exceptional atmosphere across its venues, Lane 23 invested in a state-of-the-art L-Acoustics professional sound system.
The Challenge
The nightclub presented a unique challenge due to its dimensions. The main dance floor spanned 50 meters in length and 11 meters in width, with DJ consoles at each end. This expansive layout required a professional sound system that could deliver consistent, high-quality audio throughout the space, ensuring an immersive experience for every guest, regardless of their location. Additionally, the system had to integrate seamlessly with the venue’s lighting design to create a cohesive audio-visual environment.
The Solution
Lane 23 partnered with Digital Aid (D8 Projects) Sdn Bhd, a Malaysian L-Acoustics Certified Provider Distributor, to design and install a sophisticated L-Acoustics professional sound system. Using L-Acoustics Soundvision 3D modeling software, D8 Projects meticulously planned speaker placement to achieve optimal sound coverage and blend harmoniously with the club’s lighting infrastructure. For the main stage, the solution included three K3i per side, with the bottom K3i using 110° directivity for wider coverage and the top two using 90° directivity to extend coverage down the dance floor. Four KS28 subwoofers were ground-stacked in front of the DJ console to provide powerful low-end frequencies. Delay arrays featuring A15i Focus and Wide enclosures and KS21i subwoofers were strategically placed to ensure consistent sound throughout the venue. The DJ consoles also feature A15i Wide and KS21i monitoring systems. Furthermore, the VIP area, artist hospitality space, and the ground-floor restaurant were equipped with L-Acoustics systems tailored to their specific needs, featuring A15i enclosures, KS21 subwoofers, X8i speakers, and SB6i ultra-shallow subwoofers.
The Result
The L-Acoustics professional sound system installation has significantly elevated the guest experience at Lane 23. The system delivers exceptional sound quality throughout the venue, creating an engaging atmosphere for dining and dancing. The collaboration between D8 Projects and the venue’s lighting team resulted in a cohesive audio-visual environment that enhances the club’s distinctive ambiance. The sound system has been instrumental in attracting top talent and establishing Lane 23 as a premier destination in Southeast Asia’s nightlife scene.
