The Team

City Harvest Church Elevates Worship Experience with an L-ISA Hyperreal Professional Sound System

City Harvest Church, a prominent megachurch in Singapore, has enhanced its worship services with a new, state-of-the-art L-Acoustics professional sound system featuring L-ISA immersive technology. Founded in 1989, it holds multiple services every weekend. The church’s main venue is a massive 8,000-square-meter space within the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre in the heart of the city’s central business district. Recognizing the need to provide an engaging and high-quality audio experience, the church decided to upgrade its sound system to meet the evolving needs of its congregation and create a more immersive worship environment. 

The Challenge

Due to its architecture, the venue presented unique acoustical challenges. The church’s interior featured a low nine-meter ceiling and a wide, 180-degree seating arrangement, which made it difficult to achieve consistent sound distribution and coverage throughout the space. Consequently, the church’s existing sound system only offered 8% spatialized zone sound coverage, which was insufficient to create an immersive audio experience for the congregation. To meet the church’s diverse programming needs, ranging from full-band performances during weekend services to external conferences and live music concerts throughout the week, a new professional sound system was needed that could deliver consistent, high-quality immersive audio across all events, and overcome the venue’s acoustical limitations.

The Solution

To meet these challenges, City Harvest Church chose an L-Acoustics L Series professional sound system with L-ISA immersive technology. Concept Systems Technologies, the L-Acoustics Certified Provider Distributor for Singapore, selected the L2 line array speakers, part of L-Acoustics’ latest L Series, for their superior audio resolution and compact form factor, which allowed them to overcome the venue’s unique challenges while delivering uncompromised sound quality. The design was achieved using L-Acoustics Soundvision software, which allowed for precise modeling of the acoustic performance to ensure optimal speaker placement and time alignment. The L-ISA configuration significantly increased spatialized zone coverage, enhancing the immersive audio experience for a larger portion of the congregation. The church’s technical team received comprehensive training to effectively utilize the new system’s capabilities.

The Result

The new system successfully transformed the audio experience at City Harvest Church, delivering consistent, high-quality immersive audio for all events, from weekend services to conferences and concerts. L-ISA provides an expansive sound field with clear segregation of instruments and voices within a cohesive mix, enveloping the congregation in a more engaging and intimate worship experience. The L-ISA technology and its Stereo Mapper functionality further enhance the system’s versatility, ensuring compatibility with both immersive and traditional stereo sound sources. The church’s technical team can now craft engaging, object-based mixes that elevate the overall worship experience.
