Continuing to deepen our commitment to education, L-Acoustics, in partnership with SoundGirls, is kicking off our annual, since 2020, training grant program to support the organization’s mission to empower women in audio all around the globe. Through this collaboration, L-Acoustics will provide grants for courses in our global Education Program, allowing SoundGirls members to advance their knowledge and skills in audio engineering. The program aims to foster diversity and create opportunities for women in the industry, inspiring champions for gender equality.

Whether you’re a system technician or an aspiring system engineer, these grants provide valuable opportunities for growth.

Grant Details for Women in Audio 

System Technician Grant

  • Courses Covered:
    • System & Workflow: Understand your role in the L-Acoustics ecosystem and align your practice with state-of-the-art tools and workflows. Choose between online or onsite training.
    • K System or L2 Training: Learn about standard configurations for K Series or L2 systems, including hands-on rigging and listening experience.
    • L-Acoustics System Implementation: Enhance your skills in safely mounting, rigging, cabling, and connecting L-Acoustics systems.
  • Additional Benefits:
    • One year of access to the L-Acoustics Education Platform learning community and content.

System Engineer Grant

  • Prerequisites:
    • Completion of System & Workflow or System Fundamentals.
  • Courses Covered:
    • Soundvision: Master advanced software functionalities for 3D venue modeling, system simulation, and line source optimization.
    • Drive System: Configure, control, and monitor L-Acoustics systems from source output to loudspeaker inputs.
    • M1-P1 Measurement & Tuning: Learn measurement recording with the P1 processor and loudspeaker system tuning using M1 software.
  • Additional Benefits:
    • One year of access to the L-Acoustics Education Platform learning.

L-ISA Grant

  • Prerequisites:
    • Completion of System & Workflow or System Fundamentals.
  • Courses Covered:
    • L-ISA Technology, L-ISA Loudspeaker System, L-ISA Live Mixing, L-ISA Preproduction.
  • Additional Benefits:
    • This program empowers trainees to design, implement, and calibrate L-ISA systems. It deepens their understanding of L-ISA Controller software and best practices. The program includes one year of access to the L-Acoustics Education Platform.

System Expert Grant

  • Prerequisites:
    • None specified.
  • Courses Covered:
    • Variable Curvature Line Source, Loudspeaker System Calibration.
  • Additional Benefits:
    • It optimizes line source behavior, advances understanding of system optimization, and includes one year of access to the L-Acoustics Education Platform. 

Application Process

  • Eligibility: Prospective candidates must be members of SoundGirls—from anywhere around the globe.
  • Deadline: Submit your application by September 1, 2024.
  • Notification: Winners will be notified by September 30, 2024, and announcements will be made on the L-Acoustics website and social media.
  • Choose Wisely: Candidates can apply for only one grant.
